Charlie Wilson’s War is a film based on true story of Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson who played an important role in the event that leads to the collapse of the Soviet Union and eventually the end of the Cold War. The film is adapted from the book “Charlie Wilson’s War: The Extraordinary Story of the Largest Covert Operation in History” by George Crile. Tom Hanks starred the leading role as Charlie Wilson. Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman also starred in the film with notable supporting roles.
The film tells a story in a straight-forward style with a good humor. The dialogs in the film are sharp and make the film interesting. All the casts delivered their flawless performance and it’s no doubt why all three of previous Award-winning stars in the film get their nomination for the upcoming 65th Golden Globe Awards. These include the nomination of Tom Hanks for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, Philip Seymour Hoffman for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture and Julia Roberts for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture. The film also got the nomination for Best Screenplay and Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical.
