Acer Notebook Battery – Another Problem?

After a couple of days that Nokia announced its product advisory regarding the BL-5C battery, I learned that Acer had also announced the battery exchange program for its notebook computer. There were 16 reports of notebook batteries overheating which prompted the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to issue a statement and alerted the manufacturers of notebook computer that use certain lithium-ion battery packs containing cells made by Sony Energy Devices Corporation to take action.

The following Acer notebook computer models sold in the United States and Canada may have battery packs affected by this replacement program:

TravelMateTM Series Beginning with: 242x, 320x, 321x, 330x, 422x, 467x, 561x, C20x.

AspireTM Series Beginning with: 556x, 560x, 567x, 930x, 941x, 980x.

    Though my Acer NB isn’t in the list, it also has problem. Its problem is that when it’s too hot, it suddenly shuts itself. I have to buy cooler pad putting under my NB. -_-” I don’t know what’s the reason, perhaps overheat battery???

    Khun Cotton, I recommend you take your notebook for checkup at Acer center. Battery overheating might be a reason but there might be more causes of the problem.
