Three times is a charm. Shrek is back in his third film with familiar faces, including his dear Princess Fiona, Donkey, Puss In Boots, just to name a few and a number of newcomers. This time, the big green Ogre has a big job to fill in as the king of Far Far Away land. However, the task proves to be too much for his care-free life. Thus, he starts the journey to fetch the second heir in line to the throne, the young and unconfident (prince?) Arthur. Shrek also faces a life dilemma as he knows that he is going to be a father. Meanwhile, the villain Prince Charming plots a scam to take over Far Far Away land. Could Shrek be back in time to save the day?
It seems that we couldn’t get enough of Shrek, DreamWorks‘s most favorite 3-D animation movie. One reason behind the popularity of this franchise is puns and comical elements in the film due to its heavy parody of the familiar fairy tales. If you couldn’t stop laughing in the previous Shrek films, you would probably repeat yourself in Shrek the Third with well-written script full of surprising laughters. The star-studded voice-overs perfectly portray the computer-rendered characters in the film.
All in all, the film is funny and brings back our favorite fairy tales in new aspects. Some might feel offensive by the comedy. In fact you shouldn’t take it seriously because it’s just a movie after all.
4 Stars out of 5 – the film is enjoyable. Watch out for Snow White’s hilarious and lethal new move.
