Chicken Little

"… Ma-ia-hii, Ma-ia-huu, Ma-ia-hoo, Ma-ia-haa.
Vrei sa pleci dar nu ma, nu ma iei,
Nu ma, nu ma iei, nu ma, nu ma, nu ma iei …"

If you have watched the movie in the theater around Bangkok for the past couple of months, you might have heard of this song along with a computer generated character resembling literally a "little chicken" featuring in a trailer/advertisement that encourages the audiences to turn off their mobile phones before the movie started. Some might find it funny while the others might feel annoying with the music (which, in fact, is a hit disco song in Romanian language named "Dragostea Din Tei" performed by a Moldova band called "O-ZONE") and the numa dance (which is a dance created by individual fan of the music and spreaded quickly through the internet last year.) I myself wondered what the heck this is all about. At least, bearing with Walt Disney’s trademark is enough for a reason to watch this movie when it was released in Thailand today.

It’s the story of a chicken named "Chicken Little" (Well, it’s an obvious choice for the name of the movie.) After being troublesome to townspeople, Chicken Little has to come up with a (hilarious) plan to save the world from the invading aliens. Doesn’t it sound interesting? I won’t say much about the plot and the storyline, you have to watch it for yourself to enjoy the parody in the movie. I found it so much fun and entertaining. Especially, if you are a music lover, you will definitely enjoy the songs like "We Are The Champions," "I will Survive" (this is so hilarious) and last but not least "Ain’t No Mountain High Enough." However, I doubt American jokes in the movie would do any good with the majority of the audiences here in Thailand. Well, we’ll see with the income of the movie. In the states, the movie had stayed at the top of box-office chart for 2 consecutive weeks.

4 Stars out of 5 – even though the computer graphic is not top-notch, it’s so much fun that you can’t stop laughing.
